THE ROLE
Our two-year Graduate Programme is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience working directly alongside our Partners and other senior colleagues across the business. From day one, your team will value your perspective, give you real responsibility and rely on your contribution. Over the course of your training, your knowledge, skills and experience will grow, preparing you for a successful and rewarding career with us.
The structured training programme will allow you to gain experience across a range of projects and clients with comprehensive support from peers and mentors. You will be exposed to some of the largest commercial, residential and mixed-use property projects in the UK today, as well as interesting and complex smaller projects in the historic environment. We encourage all of our Graduates to explore, question and collaborate across the business.
Our Graduates will gain knowledge of how to work with key stakeholders, including Historic England, to deliver solutions for our clients who are promoting development in sensitive contexts.

Responsibilities:
DUTIES
Research, analyse and articulate a range of heritage and townscape related planning issues, including the history and significance of heritage assets, townscape character and the appearance of an area;
Apply relevant legislation, planning policy and guidance;
Appraise the heritage and townscape interests of sites using a range of sector specific software and research tools, e.g. VUCITY
Attend client and design team meetings, contribute to pitches and presentations, and provide written advice for clients
Be part of the team responsible for the preparation of Heritage Statements and Townscape and Visual Impact Assessments to support planning applications and appeals
Be part of the team advising our clients on whether or not a building or area is a candidate for heritage designation
Work directly with Montagu Evans Associates and Partners on a day-to-day basis
Liaise and collaborate with various internal departments as well as external consultants (such as architects, solicitors, visualisation consultants and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) coordinators)
Attend external events including networking opportunities and planning committees

Qualifications:
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
The consultancy sector attracts talent from a diverse background, and so we have an open mind about qualifications. You are likely to have a postgraduate qualification in any one or more of the following:
Heritage Management, Architectural History, History of Art, Urban Design, Conservation, Planning, Landscape Planning, Architecture or similar.
We also look for;Membership or eligibility for IHBC membership is one route, however local authority experience of conservation advice or a relevant conservation qualification, that may not be recognised by the IBHC, will be considered.
Membership of the RTPI or RICS, desirable.
Keen interest in planning and the historic environment;
Keen interest in design;
Strong attention to detail;
High service delivery skills
Analytical;
Excellent communicator, both written and verbal;
Self-motivated and proactive; and
Committed and organised.
