Role Description
OGI's technical team is looking for a proactive and skilled individual to provide technical support to our project managers at our Durham office.
In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring the smooth delivery of complex engineering projects by assisting with technical tasks, resolving challenges and contributing to the development of practical solutions. You'll work closely with experienced professionals across disciplines, gaining exposure to groundwater control, hydrogeology, civil engineering and geotechnics. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to grow their technical expertise within a dynamic and purpose-driven team.
Key Responsibilities
Produce technical and schematic drawings using a range of graphics software tools.
Edit existing technical drawings and plans.
Input field data into the computer and liaise with field personnel.
Provide technical support to the Technical Director and Project Managers.
Prepare technical reports.
Liaise between the technical and administrative teams.
Support with mathematical calculations and analysis.
Run engineering simulations using in-house software.
Analyse collected data and graphs.
Prepare computer-generated presentations and marketing material.
Assist with updating the OGI website.
Assist with writing technical papers.
Undertake project related administration.
Requirements
BSc/MSci in an Earth Science or Civil Engineering related degree, such as Geology, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or similar. Note that candidates with other scientific or artistic degrees would be considered.
MSc (e.g. Hydrogeology, Geotechnical Engineering) and/or construction industry experience is preferred, but not essential.
Computer skills, including being able to use Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience using technical drawing software would be advantageous, such as Microsoft Visio, Photoshop and/or AutoCAD.
