The company holds several international patents, it is engaged in the end-to-end design, supply, site commissioning and servicing of charging solutions, targeting commercial vehicles. The business is currently scaling and is well supported by both its international shareholders and its role under the UK Government eFreight2030 programme, where it is leading a consortium of UK logistics fleet operators to deploy the UK's first eHGV charging network.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and ambitious Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team, supporting the design, development, and deployment of next-generation EV Hyperchargers and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of clean energy and transport innovation, contributing to the transition toward sustainable mobility.
You will be involved in all aspects of mechanical product development, from concept design to prototyping and production, gaining hands-on experience in the real-world challenges of power systems, thermal management, structural design, and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the mechanical design of EV charging systems and BESS enclosures, including structural frames, cooling systems, and mounting assemblies.
Produce and review 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and bill of materials using software such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
Conduct thermal & structural analysis to support system performance and reliability.
Support prototype development and testing, including fit checks, thermal testing, and validation of new mechanical components.
Collaborate with electrical engineers, industrial designers, and manufacturing partners to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
Participate in design reviews, project planning, and documentation for quality and compliance standards.
Engage with suppliers to source components and materials, considering cost, sustainability, and manufacturability.
Attend site visits or installation trials as needed, gaining exposure to real-world deployment environments.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
BEng or MEng in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
Strong academic foundation in mechanics, thermodynamics, materials, and product design.
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo).
Enthusiasm for sustainable technologies and the EV sector.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Strong communication and time management skills.
Desirable:
Exposure to FEA/CFD tools (e.g. ANSYS, COMSOL, or SolidWorks Simulation).
Familiarity with manufacturing processes (sheet metal, plastics, assembly).
Awareness of IP ratings, mechanical compliance, and enclosure design for electrical systems.
