Job Description

Wyman-Gordon Limited is part of U.S. based Precision Castparts, a world-leading producer of complex forgings and high-performance nickel-based alloys and superalloys for aerospace, power generation and general industrial applications.

Our Livingston facility manufactures nickel-based, titanium and steel alloy components for the aerospace and oil and gas markets as well as seamless extruded pipe for the energy markets.

We are currently seeking an energetic and ambitious graduate to join our organisation at our plant in Livingston to help us develop future leaders in Quality that will drive Wyman-Gordon's growth in the coming years.

Quality key responsibilities of the position



Ensure product conformity and that customers receive the highest standard of service at all times. To maintain, improve and drive forward manufacturing processes by facilitating a quality management system structured to ensure products and services meet high quality standards. To have a structured and focused approach to investigating and problem solving. To initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformance relating to product, process and quality system. Identify and record any problems relating to product, process and quality system. To initiate and drive actions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformance (product, process or quality system). To undertake internal QMS audits to ensure product and process conformity and deal with customer and supplier audits on site. Support process owners in review and update of process procedures and instructions. To play a key role in the release of aerospace product to customers. To liaise with customers, suppliers, third parties and other companies within the group.

KEY DUTIES



To work as part of a team in the Quality Department. Must be capable of working on own initiative, often to tight deadlines whilst maintaining good attention to detail, cost effectiveness, ease of manufacture and a particular focus on quality.

Zero Defect Processes



Use industry leading problem-solving approaches to reduce non-conformance and scrap Collect and assess data, making data-based decisions to drive process improvement Promote quality and continuous improvement within the Livingston site Be a key contributor to driving the sire towards zero defect manufacturing

New Part Validation



Ensure customer requirements are met during the introduction of new products by using quality tools such as First Article Inspection and production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Performa risk assessment and risk mitigation through Failure Mode Effect Analysis (pFMEA) Ensure all product conformance requirements are met prior to part shipment

Production Support



To provide quality support to the production areas of the company on a daily basis. To provide quality support to the planning and customer support areas of the company daily Liaise with sub-contractors, suppliers and customers as and when required to resolve production issues in a timely and efficient manner To support daily review of production non-conformances, ensuring correct disposition and taking action to prevent recurrence To support the proving-out of new parts in the forge and assist in implementation of any changes to design or to the process to improve the product or process efficiency. Provide Quality Alerts to the manufacturing operation in a timely and accurate manner To help to troubleshoot any non-conformance situations that may arise during forging or heat treatment operations and propose solutions in conjunction with the Quality Manager. To work to achieve the performance measures identified within the team and unit and help to aid two-way communications.

EXPERIENCE



Degree qualified in a in a technical field such as, but not limited to, Quality Systems, Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Mathematics

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision Ability to and desire for continual learning Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers Negotiation skills Demonstrated organizational and multi-tasking skills Highly developed computer skills, in particular Microsoft Excel Must have a high degree of numerical ability Good problem-solving skills. Organised and punctual Energetic & Enthusiastic
Hours 37.5 Monday to Friday

Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:15pm

Friday 8am to 3pm
