About the role



JN Bentley is offering an exciting opportunity for graduates in the Yorkshire area to join our Head Office in Skipton as part of our newly developed Support Graduate Scheme. This structured 18-month programme provides exposure to a wide range of business support functions that are critical to the successful delivery of our engineering projects. You will be automatically enrolled into our bespoke Early Careers Development Programme; a 12-month scheme designed to enhance your skills, expand your network, and enrich your experience.


Graduates will rotate through several departments, gaining valuable experience and developing key skills to support a long-term career within a successful civil engineering business. Upon successful completion of the graduate scheme, you will transition into a full-time role within one of the support functions you've worked in. This placement will be based on business needs and your individual strengths and preferences.


You will work across a number of support functions having the opportunity to spend a rolling three months learning a variety of the following disciplines:

Procurement (Materials, Subcontract, Plant) Logistics

Fleet Management Bidding & Estimating

Internal Plant Business Development

Finance Communications & Media

IT Excellence & Digital Delivery

Quality, Environment, Safety (QES) Sustainability (Carbon & Social Outcomes)

What you'll do



To develop into a multi-discipline team member that can utilise the knowledge gained throughout the graduate programme to support the business across functions. Organise and schedule workload in a timely manner. Ensure compliance to company procedures in a variety of roles. Work closely with other graduates to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Create effective relationships across function to enhance cross-functional support. Work closely with our operational teams to ensure they are getting the best service and have all the tools required to complete their schemes effectively. Prepare reports, including cost analysis. Work closely with project teams to understand our client's requirements. Take personal responsibility for both commercial and health and safety performance. Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Desirable Experience

Experience in a business support function Familiarity with purchase-to-pay software Previous work with stakeholders to promote continuous improvement Proficiency in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerBI, Word, Powerpoint)

Applicable Degree Areas (examples include but not limited to)



Business, Marketing, Finance or Accounting, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Sales Management, Construction or Quantity Surveying.
