Graduate Structural Engineer

The Role



As a

Graduate Structural Engineer

, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers on the analysis, design, and delivery of a variety of structural projects. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical skills, gain hands-on project experience, and progress towards professional qualification with the

Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE)

or the

Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)

.

Key Responsibilities



Assist in the design and analysis of building and infrastructure structures in materials such as steel, concrete, timber, and masonry. Produce structural calculations, drawings, and design reports. Use structural design software such as Tekla, Tedds, STAAD.Pro, or ETABS. Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other design disciplines to deliver coordinated and buildable solutions. Support senior engineers in preparing technical documentation and project deliverables. Participate in site inspections, surveys, and project meetings as required. Ensure all work complies with current British Standards, Eurocodes, and Building Regulations. Contribute to sustainable and cost-effective design approaches.

About You



Essential:



MEng or BEng (Hons) in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university. Strong understanding of structural mechanics and design principles. Familiarity with design software (e.g., Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds, AutoCAD, Revit). Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude. Desire to work towards professional chartership (IStructE or ICE).

Desirable:



Previous placement or internship experience within a structural or civil engineering consultancy. Knowledge of sustainability and low-carbon design principles. Full UK driving licence (advantageous, but not essential).
