This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate to gain hands-on experience in education. If you are considering a career working with young people, becoming a SEND Teaching Assistant is a valuable way to explore the classroom and understand how a career in education can grow. Full training and support are provided.

The role

You will work within a classroom environment that best suits your skills and interests. Duties may include:

Supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, autism, or physical disabilities. Working closely with teaching staff to deliver specialist education plans for pupils with EHCPs. Creating a safe and nurturing environment to help pupils achieve their best. Collaborating with professionals such as speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, or art therapists.

The ideal person

We are looking for graduates who are:

Patient, kind, and caring. Great communicators, able to engage with both pupils and colleagues. Reliable and consistent in their approach. Willing to take time to understand each pupil's individual needs. Able to provide a safe and supportive learning environment.
We welcome applications from graduates of all degree backgrounds, and especially from those with qualifications in Childhood Studies, Psychology, Criminology, Health and Social Care, or Sports Studies, as these can be highly valuable in specialist provisions.

Safeguarding children is an integral part of what we do and we have a stringent safer recruitment process. we undertake checks on all the candidates we work with. As such we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in Schools. If you do not have a subscription to the DBS Update Service, you may be required to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process. If you take a temporary role with Sense Education you will be paid on a weekly basis.
