This is an exciting graduate-level opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in education and training.
As a Graduate Trainee Assessor, you will support apprenticeship learners, particularly in the Supporting Teaching and Learning and Higher Level Teaching Assistant pathways.
You will receive full training and mentoring to gain relevant qualifications and become a fully qualified Assessor within your first year.
You will work alongside experienced staff to support learners' development, track progress, and ensure high-quality delivery and compliance with Welsh Government guidelines.
Welsh language skills are essential.
MAIN DUTIES (During Training & On Progression)
Participate in a structured training programme to achieve Assessor qualifications (Level 3 Learning and development NVQ).
Shadow experienced assessors to understand learner assessment and support methods.
Learn how to assess learners' prior achievements and identify suitable entry points into apprenticeship programmes.
Assist in identifying learner support needs, including Essential Skills and Soft Skills development.
Support the planning and delivery of tailored learning and assessment experiences in collaboration with colleagues and employers.
Observe and gradually contribute to delivering engaging and effective teaching that helps scaffold knowledge and skills.
Learn to provide constructive feedback and set targets that encourage learner progress.
Support regular learner reviews and help monitor and document learning journeys.
Help maintain quality standards and assist with safeguarding and health & safety compliance.
Work towards meeting learner retention and achievement goals.
Develop confidence in employer and learner engagement, including workplace visits across North Wales.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIAL:
Recent graduate (or equivalent level of education) with a strong interest in education, training, or working with learners.
A commitment to working towards Assessor qualifications within 12 months (fully funded).
Ability to speak Welsh
Organised, self-motivated, and willing to travel to meet learners and employers across North Wales (own transport required).
DESIRABLE:
Experience in a support, mentoring, or teaching role (paid or voluntary).
Familiarity with the education sector or work-based learning environments.
Awareness of funded programmes such as Apprenticeships or Jobs Growth Wales+.
