Graduate Trainee Technical Design & Sales Renewable Energy

Reading, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

About Spirit Energy

We design and install high-quality solar PV and battery storage systems for homes and businesses across the South of England. Based in Reading, we're one of the UK's longest-established and most respected specialists in residential and commercial renewables. Our work is technically led, with a strong focus on engineering excellence and long-term system performance.

We've built a reputation for honest advice, meticulous design, and high-quality installations. Our mission is to help people take control of their energy, reduce their bills, and accelerate the UK's shift to a sustainable future.

You don't need to know anything about the industry.

We will train you. We offer a fast growing and fun environment full of young people.

About the Role

We're looking for a bright, motivated graduate to join our residential sales team. Your main job is to sell solar and battery storage systems to homeowners - from first contact through to closing the deal.

When a potential customer gets in touch, the project becomes yours to manage. You'll be responsible for taking it from first enquiry through to final quote and signed contract. That includes assessing the property, advising on the right system, putting together the proposal, and handling any follow-up. You won't be micromanaged - we'll give you the tools, training, and support you need, but you'll be expected to run your own pipeline and take ownership of your work.

But this isn't just a sales job. Our customers rely on us for second-to-none technical advice and clear, honest insight into the best system specification for their property. You'll be trained in every aspect of solar and battery system design, from first principles to advanced applications. This includes how to size systems correctly, quote accurately, and select the right technologies for each project based on performance, cost, and customer needs. You'll learn how to model energy generation and savings, analyse household energy loads, and forecast long-term performance. You'll also gain practical experience with schematics, CAD drawings, and the technical documentation required for grid approval, including DNO applications. And much more...

We're looking for someone with a keen sales acumen who is smart, curious, and commercially aware who can help customers make informed decisions.

You'll also get the chance to work closely with our technical and design teams, and over time, you may choose to specialise more in either the sales side or the technical side of the business.

The company is growing quickly and we're looking to expand into new areas and new technologies. You'll be a part of driving this growth and contributing to the development and expansion of the company.
