: Graduate/Assistant Mechanical Design Engineer - Environmental Control Systems

design of HVAC systems within a teaching anatomy suite to protect staff and students from inhalation of formaldehyde vapours released during embalming, dissection, and plastination processes.
site-wide audit of exposure control systems for a major aerospace and defence company, supported by an improvement program involving design of new control measures.
design of new and improved ventilation systems for an R&D facility at a major paint manufacturing company.

3.0 The Role
Mechon is seeking a graduate or assitant design engineer to join and bolster our team.
The appointed individual will be afforded the chance for advanced training in the development of process ventilation system designs, guiding projects from initial concept through to completion.
The successful candidate must be adept at collaborating closely with fellow engineers and project managers. They must be skilled in synthesizing feedback and supporting with system solutions that are both practical and feasible.
Mechon collaborates with several government projects that necessitate personnel with Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance. Candidates will need to be UK-based citizens (as a minimum requirement) to obtain this clearance. Although current possession of BPSS clearance is not a prerequisite, Mechon will support the selected candidates in acquiring it.

4.0 Career Progression
We anticipate that with your qualifications and dedication, you should be able to move from the Intermediate Design Engineer level to the Design Engineer level within 1-3 years, subject to meeting the above performance criteria. 5.0 Key Responsibilities
Conducting comprehensive site audits to assess the suitability and performance of various process ventilation systems, with subsequent detailed reporting.
Site surveys to gather information to enable system designs.
Performing design calculations for LEV and process HVAC systems design, including airflow, pressure, thermal gains and losses and exposure benchmarking.
Determining optimal sizing of HVAC in LEV systems based on the outcomes of the design calculations.
Drafting detailed tender specifications for project bidding.
Continuous management of the design project from implementation initiation to handover including leading design coordination meetings to align all project stakeholders.
Providing consistent support throughout the design and build process to ensure adherence to design specifications.
6.0 Ideal Experience
Working experience in the mechanical building services environment or environmental control industry is advantageous, but not required.
7.0 Ideal Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is essential. Qualifications in crossover disciplines such as Chemical Engineering will also be considered.
Experience in computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD.

9.0 Remuneration
The annual salary for an employee operating initially in the intermediate role will start at between 31,750 and 43,250, depending on skills, education and experience. Employees are able to advance their grading within the company earning salaries in excess of 90,000 for senior design roles.
Additional Hours Compensation: In acknowledgement of the necessity for flexible working hours, the company offers compensation for any additional hours worked. This compensation is calculated at the same rate as regular hours, which are encompassed within the annual salary package.
Performance reviews and potential salary increments or bonuses are conducted regularly.
10.0 Performance Bonus Scheme
A performance bonus scheme is not initially available for assistant/graduate design engineers. The scheme is implemented once the engineer progresses to an intermediate project/design engineer role.
Eligibility withuin the bonus scheme hinges on meeting defined utilisation and project budget compliance targets. The bonus amount reflects individual achievement, incentivising personal growth.
11.0 Pension Scheme
The candidate will be automatically enrolled in our company pension scheme with contributions matched up to 6%.
