OVERVIEW
The Grants & Trusts Officer is responsible for the day-to-day administration of Leukaemia Care's grant fundraising activity. This programme seeks small- to medium-sized grants from charitable trusts and other grant-makers, typically between 2,000 and 20,000.
The ideal candidate will have proven administrative skills, preferably using a CRM database, and experience of written communication in a professional context. Previous experience of grant funding, or of creating budgets and reading financial accounts, would also be useful, but is not essential.
This would be an excellent opportunity for someone from a fundraising or administrative background who wishes to develop their experience in grant funding and stewardship.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organising a key part of the charity's grants and trusts fundraising programme, helping to grow it as a portion of the charity's income.
Administering the stewardship process of thanks and reports to grant providers.
Maintaining records of all applications, communications and grants received on the Raisers Edge CRM database.
Researching new opportunities for grant funding and helping to refine repeat applications.
Alongside the Bids & Partnerships Manager, creating innovative and persuasive proposal materials aimed at bringing in new funders and retaining existing ones.
Supporting the Bids & Partnerships Manager with larger funding bids.
FUNDRAISING
Using and adapting existing information to complete grant requests and submitting to charitable trusts by post or email.
Completing and submitting application forms, by email or through website portals.
Acting as a point of contact for enquiries from potential funders and providing additional information or documentation as requested.
Maintaining the stewardship process: sending timely thank you letters, fulfilling all reporting requirements and assisting the Bids & Partnership Manager with annual impact and financial reports.
Liaising with the Comms Team on disclosure requirements and supporting the production of social media updates.
Alongside the Bids & Partnerships Manager, maintaining a library of templates and standard text to streamline the application and stewardship processes.
PLANNING
Working with the Patient Services Team to coordinate funding efforts for specific projects, including identifying regional funding opportunities.
Supporting the Bids & Partnerships Manager with the repeat applications schedule and reviewing funder reports to refine our approach to them.
Ensuring a common and consistent message across funding bids, presenting a positive and accurate view of Leukaemia Care and its work.
Maintaining quality control in written applications with thorough proofreading and the use of latest relevant data.
Ensuring the Raisers Edge database is up to date, with accurate details, and provides a complete picture of our relationship with actual and potential funders.
Supporting the Bids & Partnerships Manager in drafting, reviewing and updating application information and standard text.
ANALYSIS & IMPACT
Keeping organisational details and record of contact up to date on the Raisers Edge database.
Supporting the Bids & Partnerships Manager in monitoring grant income on a multi-year basis and strategising for future requests.
Working with the Communications Team to identify opportunities to tell fundraising stories that bring our events and fundraising experiences to life.
Incorporating technological solutions, including AI, where appropriate to streamline processes and increase time efficiency.
Working to identify opportunities to improve or streamline the programme wherever possible.
