The Role:



As our Grid Connection & Compliance Manager, you will be the central technical authority ensuring our projects are not only built to the highest standards but also seamlessly and legally integrated into the UK's electricity network. You will bridge the gap between our installation teams, customers, and the Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), managing the entire journey from MCS certification to DNO approval.

This is a high-impact role where your expertise will directly enable customer savings, ensure regulatory compliance, and unlock revenue streams through successful grid connections.

Key Responsibilities:



MCS Compliance Leadership:

Act as the company's MCS Standards expert. Oversee and ensure all installations strictly adhere to MCS product and installation standards. Maintain our MCS certification and manage the MCS installation database.

End-to-End Grid Connection Management:

Take full ownership of the DNO application process for all relevant projects. Prepare, submit, and manage all technical documentation (G99/G100 applications) to relevant DNOs.

Technical Problem Solving:

Proactively address and resolve complex grid connection challenges, including network constraints, capacity limitations, and DNO-specific technical requirements. Liaise with DNO engineers to negotiate optimal solutions.

Stakeholder Communication:

Serve as the primary technical point of contact for DNOs. Translate complex grid requirements into clear guidance for our internal design and installation teams, and provide clear updates to customers.

Process & Knowledge Development:

Develop and maintain robust internal processes for compliance and grid applications. Train and mentor team members on evolving MCS and DNO regulations.

Essential Skills & Experience:



Proven Hands-On Experience:

A minimum of 3-5 years in a role directly managing

both

:

MCS compliance

for a certified installer, with a deep understanding of the scheme's technical requirements and audit processes.

DNO grid connection applications

, including successful submission and approval of G99 forms for multiple UK DNOs (e.g., UKPN, SSEN, NPg).

Technical Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of UK wiring regulations (BS 7671), DNO Engineering Recommendations (G99, G100, G98), and the UK's smart export guarantee (SEG) landscape.

Communication & Influence:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to negotiate and build professional relationships with DNOs and other external bodies.

Problem-Solving Aptitude:

A solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to analyse technical constraints and develop pragmatic, cost-effective solutions.

Highly Desirable (The Ideal Candidate Will Have):



Direct prior work experience

within a DNO

in a connections, planning, or distributed energy role. Formal qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related field (HNC/HND/Degree). Experience with energy storage system (ESS) grid connections. A current driving licence.
