What you will do:





As a Grid Intern, you will work closely with the Grid Connections team, supporting a range of renewable energy projects including onshore wind, solar PV, and battery storage. These projects span the origination, development, and construction phases. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to the technical and commercial aspects of grid integration in GB's electricity energy industry.



General responsibilities:


Support the origination of new projects by conducting initial grid capacity assessments, coordinating with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and Transmission Operators (TOs), requesting budget quotations, and preparing formal grid connection applications.

Support technical and commercial due diligence on grid connection offers received from DNOs and the National Electricity System Operator (NESO) and assist in negotiating improved connection designs or terms where applicable.

Review grid connection aspects of potential M&A and DSA opportunities, performing due diligence to assess the viability of grid offers and advising on their acceptability.

Assist in the development and maintenance of internal tools used for grid capacity searches, including collecting and scraping publicly available datasets from DNOs, TOs, and NESO, and implementing automation solutions to enhance data accessibility and usability.

Provide ad hoc support to the development and construction teams, including tasks related to Modification Applications, engineering reviews, and grid compliance processes.



Employment type:

Fix term contract - 1 year duration. Full-Time or negotiable (depending on availability of interns).


Work site:

Hybrid Model (3 days of in-person work at the office, 2 days of teleworking).


Economic conditions:

12.21 per hour.




What are we looking for:





1. Academic Skills:


Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a STEM discipline (e.g., Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science), with a demonstrated interest in energy systems--particularly electricity grids and renewable energy technologies.

2. Professional Experience:


Not required (Up to 2 years). Understanding of the energy industry, including key regulatory, economic, and commercial drivers.

3. Specific Knowledge / Skils:


Excel and Word - advance Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience interpreting complex data sets and generating actionable insights. High attention to detail, with a strong commitment to precision and accuracy in both technical and commercial analyses. Proven ability to make thoughtful, impactful decisions in fast-paced, data-driven environments. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to problem-solving and contributing to shared goals.

4. Languages:


Fluent communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
