Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping Operative to join our team. This role is essential for maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functionality of outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in landscape maintenance, horticulture, and general maintenance practices. You will be responsible for ensuring that all grounds are well-kept and safe for public use.

Responsibilities

Perform regular landscape maintenance, including mowing, trimming, and planting. Operate and maintain various hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Assist in the construction of new garden areas or features as required. Utilise excavators and other machinery for landscaping projects. Carry out routine maintenance tasks to keep equipment in good working order. Monitor plant health and provide care through appropriate techniques. Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively. Assist in the preparation of sites for landscaping projects, including clearing debris, levelling ground, and digging trenches. Plant trees, shrubs, and flowers as directed. Lay turf, mulch, and other ground coverings. Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment (e.g., lawn mowers, strimmers, leaf blowers). Perform routine ground maintenance tasks such as mowing, weeding, pruning, and edging. Clear leaves, litter, and other debris from sites. Maintain pathways, driveways, and other outdoor areas. Assist in the installation and repair of fences, including digging post holes, setting posts, and attaching panels. Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from vehicles. Keep worksites clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Skills & Qualifications

Proven experience in landscape maintenance or horticulture is highly desirable. Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as excavators. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, bending, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions. Good level of fitness and stamina

Other Requirements

Valid UK Full driver's license Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, if required.
