Macari Hill Civil Engineering Ltd was founded in 2021 by construction professionals Martyn Macari and David Hill after working together to successfully deliver numerous Civil Engineering and Construction Projects over the last fifteen years.

Due to a number of contract wins, we have a large volume of work ahead in 2025 and into 2026 and are keen to expand our core team adding an experienced Ganger and 1 Nr. skilled Excavator Operator and 1 Nr. Skilled Operative to our team.

JOB TITLE:

Water Utility Ganger / Excavator Operator / Skilled Operative

LOCATION:

Aberdeenshire, Perthshire and Fife

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Macari Hill Civil Engineering is looking for Gangers, Excavator Operators and Skilled Operatives who are multi-skilled, team players specifically with knowledge and experience of clean water infrastructure, drainage, kerbing and both hard and soft landscaping. The roles will involve working on a variety of projects in the North East of Scotland as well as Perthshire and Fife.

Although operatives residing in Fife, Perth, Angus or Aberdeen area would be preferred, the successful candidates will need to be willing to work anywhere in the North East of Scotland with overnight stays as required. Water Utility Ganger must have experience in clean water infrastructure while a valid CSCS Card is essential. Excavator Operators should have CPCS or NPORS 360 above and below 10t with lifting operations.

DUTIES:

- Maintain Health and Safety awareness on site and a safe and secure working area.

- Install filter drains and kerbs to line and level as per engineer's instructions.

- Undertake hand excavation where required.

- Experience of general civils work.

- Operating plant on site (where qualified).

- Complete excavation and daily plant check sheets.

- Work within parameters of permit to work system.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

- Valid CSCS card.

- DOMS Water Hygiene qualification desirable but not essential.

- CPCS/NPORS card for operated plant desirable (360 excavator/roller/forward tipping dumper, roller, telehandler etc)

- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.

- Knowledge of Health and Safety on site.

- Previous experience in a similar role.

- Full driving license desirable.

REPORTING TO: Operations Director

Hours: As required, Monday to Friday.

Salary: Highly Competitive with Incentives
