POST: Grounds/Maintenance Supervisor
LOCATION: Castlewood Holiday Park, Antrim.
REPORTS TO: Site Warden
RESPONSIBLE TO: Site Warden /Operations Manager
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Managing Director and Board of Directors
Salary: 14 p/h
POST SUMMARY: The Role
You will lead and motivate a seasonal team of 2-5 staff, ensuring high standards in grounds and maintenance operations, while promoting a customer-focused ethos.
We would expect the person in this role to use initiative and provide regular updates and reports to the Site Warden, ensuring smooth running of the grounds and maintenance operations.
You will also be expected to identify areas for improvement, put forward positive suggestions, and then, with the agreement of the Site Manager, implement and monitor solutions.
This will include ensuring that grass cutting and grounds maintenance works are completed within agreed time scales, ensuring all sites are well maintained, grounds are kept to a high standard, hot tubs and holiday homes are ready for holiday arrivals and owners.
You will also be responsible for implementing other seasonal or structural tasks, such as the winter caravan valet.
This is a full-time, permanent role which may involve working weekends, bank holidays and some evenings.
Person Specification
You will need to be organised, pro-active and a problem solver. You will ideally have 3 years' grounds/maintenance experience, in a similar industry.
You will be able to motivate the grounds maintenance team to achieve results within deadlines.
A working knowledge in lawn mowers, and other grounds maintenance tools and machinery is essential.
In order to succeed in this role, you will need a good working knowledge of general maintenance, repair and ground care skills, and the ability to prioritise and adapt in a changing and challenging environment.
You must demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure.
You will be adaptable and flexible to help the wider park team meet and exceed our customers' expectations.
You will be a self-starter and ambitious, with a desire to drive continuous improvement within your area.
Essential Criteria
Hold a full driving licence and relevant other grounds maintenance and grass cutting plant machinery training
Experience in working under pressure and delivering work schedules on time
Ensure all operations comply with health and safety regulations, including safe use of machinery, PPE, and risk assessments
Knowledge and working experience of pesticide spraying
Broad experience in 'handyman' work.
Experience of supervising and leading a team
Desirable Criteria
Experience in risk assessment and working from checklists
Minimum of 3 years' experience in caravan siting within the holiday park setting
Understanding and knowledge of siting health and safety policies
Knowledge of industry health and safety regulations
Experience of supervising and leading a team
Experience in preparing and managing Hot Tubs
MAIN SUPERVISORY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Be involved in the planning and delivery of key areas which include, but is not exclusive to:
Grass cutting, litter-picking, hedge cutting, shrub and flowerbed maintenance, leaf clearing, weed spraying, caravan valet duties, as well as other associated duties.
Responsibility for ensuring that all grounds maintenance duties have been fulfilled, as well as Coordinating other related grounds and maintenance works with the team's area of responsibility.
Ensure all grass cutting and grounds maintenance operations comply with relevant health and safety procedures.
Ensure the grass cutting/ grounds maintenance team use plant and machinery in a safe manner, within health and safety standards and with adequate and correct PPE
Responsibility for reporting damages caused by the grounds/grass cutting maintenance team
Provide regular progress reports and updates to the General Manager with regards to weekly work schedules.
Maintain all grass cutting equipment and stock. Ensuring all equipment is in good working order, comply with health and safety standards and liaise with the Site Manager on a regular basis for stock and supplies
GENERAL SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the Site Manager, you will allocate tasks, support staff performance reviews and disciplinary procedures in line with employment law.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Site Developments & Maintenance Duties
Lead the grass cutting/ ground maintenance team in other site development works such as in ground and land preparations, construction works, concreting, laying sewers and utility pipeworks.
Coordinate the team to also deliver essential maintenance of the site to include, fencing, grass cutting, decking construction, moving sheds
Assisting in providing services to customer's sites and short- term sites.
Delivering and installing Gas Cylinders at customer vans.
Yard, sheds and office buildings maintenance tasks.
Maintenance and keeping order of stores and stocks
Maintain staff relationships and morale among all company staff.
