Grounds Operative - Landscaping & Groundworks

Location: Based in Berkshire - Working Across Reading, Windsor, and Surrounding Areas
Salary: 30,000 - 35,000 (DOE)

About ANB Trees & Grounds Ltd

ANB Trees & Grounds Ltd is an Arboricultural Association and BALI-accredited contractor, delivering high-quality tree surgery, landscaping, and grounds maintenance services throughout Berkshire and the South East. As our landscaping division continues to grow, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Grounds Operative to join our team on a full-time basis.

This is a practical, outdoor role suited to someone with a broad range of landscaping and groundwork experience, from turfing and planting through to more technical installations like drainage systems, driveways, and ponds.

Key ResponsibilitiesTurfing & Soft Landscaping

- Prepare and level ground for turf laying
- Install turf and wildflower areas to a high standard
- Planting trees, shrubs, and herbaceous stock
- Soil conditioning, mulching, and irrigation installation

Grounds Maintenance

- General maintenance of landscaped areas
- Grass cutting, weeding, pruning, and seasonal tidy-ups
- Use of hand tools and machinery for ongoing site care

Hard Landscaping & Groundworks

- Construct footpaths, driveways, edging, and paved surfaces
- Undertake land drainage installations and soakaways
- Carry out minor excavation works (e.g. for ponds, foundations, or utilities)
- Build and line small ponds, wildlife habitats or water features
- Operate compact plant and machinery (dumper, mini digger etc.)
- Assist with site clearance, material handling, and reinstatement works

Candidate Requirements

Essential:
- Experience in both soft landscaping and groundworks
- Competent using landscaping tools and groundwork machinery
- A good understanding of levels, drainage and outdoor finishes
- Physically fit, hardworking and comfortable working in all weather
- Ability to follow plans and work independently or as part of a team
- Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:
- CSCS Card
- CPCS / NPORS ticket for mini digger/dumper
- Relevant plant/machinery or health & safety certifications
- Experience using laser levels and reading site drawings

Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm
Location: Operating from our Berkshire base across Reading, Windsor and surrounding counties
