Job Overview

The Grounds Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of outdoor spaces. This position involves a variety of tasks related to landscape maintenance, gardening, and general upkeep of grounds to ensure they are safe, clean, and visually appealing. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of mechanical knowledge and practical skills to effectively utilise various tools and equipment.

Duties

Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, and edging lawns. Carry out gardening duties such as planting, weeding, and mulching to enhance the beauty of outdoor areas. Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently for various maintenance tasks. Conduct irrigation system checks and repairs to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns. Utilise excavators for digging, grading, or moving earth as required for landscaping projects. Maintain equipment in good working order through regular checks and minor repairs. Assist with construction projects related to landscaping or outdoor facilities as needed. Ensure all work areas are kept clean and free from hazards.

Skills

Proficiency in landscape maintenance techniques and practices. Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as excavators effectively. Understanding of irrigation systems and their maintenance requirements. Knowledge of horticulture principles to promote healthy plant growth. Ability to work independently or as part of a team while following safety protocols. Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in all tasks performed.
