Grounds and Maintenance Person

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and keen Grounds and Maintenance Person to join our small team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for landscape maintenance and possess the ability to maintain, improve, and care for various outdoor spaces. This role is essential in ensuring that our grounds are visually appealing and well-kept, contributing to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the estate. We are a small team but a great one and this is a very unique opportunity to really put your stamp on the grounds. The individual must be flexible and willing to work alone at times. An on call requirement will be a part of this role but this will be discussed at the interview stage. Although this role will be heavily focused on the grounds, we do require the person to be willing to conduct jobs inside the houses such as painting, basic plumbing (changing taps etc), cleaning of fires and BBQs after use, along with other basic maintenance tasks. We are open to hiring from candidates from young to old. Full training will be provided to do the role efficiently and safely. This role does not come with housing or relocation to the area.

Duties

Perform regular landscape maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, and edging lawns. Dig and prepare garden beds for planting. Carry out groundskeeping duties such as weeding, mulching, and planting flowers and shrubs and blowing leaves. Build and maintain structures such as fences or garden beds as required. Operate hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for various maintenance tasks. Maintaining wood levels for indoor fires and outdoor fire pits. Conduct routine inspections of grounds to identify areas needing attention or repair. Maintain equipment in good working order through regular cleaning and basic mechanical knowledge. Small in house maintenance jobs to keep the houses to the required standard. Maintenance of hot tubs, chemical levels and ensuring these are cleaned and to a high standard to ensure guidelines are met and safety for guest use. Cleaning BBQs after guest use. Resetting of open fires. Travel between houses may be required in a company vehicle.

Requirements

Previous experience in landscape maintenance or groundskeeping is desired. Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining a positive attitude. Good physical fitness, with the ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual labour as required. A keen eye for detail to ensure high standards of work are consistently met. Willingness to learn new skills related to gardening and landscape care. An understanding of COSHH and Risk Assessments is beneficial. Fire Safety awareness. A driving licence is essential.
