Gangerman

to lead on-site, work safely around live services, and drive productivity to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate a team of groundworkers, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery. Operate plant and machinery confidently, including lifting operations in line with legislation and company procedures. Deliver daily briefings, risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks. Supervise drainage, ducting, and service installations, with strong awareness of live buried services. Manage trench boxes, drag boxes, manhole boxes, and pipe lasers. Oversee pipe laying (concrete, clay, plastic), ensuring correct levels, bedding, testing, and reinstatement. Manage groundwater, pumps, and dewatering solutions. Oversee external works including kerbing, edging, paving, and landscaping. Interpret drawings and site plans, converting programmes into daily/weekly targets. Maintain high standards of Quality, Health & Safety, and productivity. Liaise with Site Management and support coordination of sub-contractors.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

SSSTS (minimum); SMSTS desirable 5+ years' groundworks experience with proven leadership as a Gangerman Strong knowledge of site safety, RAMS procedures, and safe systems of work Ability to read drawings, plan ahead, and manage workloads effectively

Additional CPCS/NPORS tickets (e.g., Telehandler, Dumper, Roller) Experience leading multi-skilled gangs or specialist sub-contractors 5-10+ years in civil engineering/groundworks Commitment to continued training and development
