Job Description

Join a dynamic and growing finance team at EPUKI. We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Group Assistant Accountant to join our Leeds office on a permanent basis.



As a key member of the Central Finance team, the Group Assistant Accountant plays an important role in making sure that financial information is prepared timely, accurately and with integrity. Beyond core reporting, the role will also involve a broad range of financial activities including cash management and forecasting, assisting with statutory account preparation and preparing information for audit reviews.

They will report to the Group Finance Manager in delivering these tasks, and will also support the Central Finance Business Partner with central cost management, which will involve providing administrative support in SAP and various ad-hoc tasks which will lead to exposure with the Procurement team and other functions across the business.

This will be a dynamic and varied role offering the opportunity to learn and develop within a Finance team in a fast-paced and evolving energy business.
Key Responsibilities


Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, the key duties and responsibilities will be:



General accounting and Month-end reporting


Prepare journals, calculate and maintain prepayments and accruals, relevant provisions and other balance sheet accounts. Calculate and agree intercompany balances and settlement. Liaising with other finance colleagues from the assets to ensure all central transactions are accurate and complete. Assist in preparation of management accounts, including performing initial variance analysis, reviewing and investigating data to understand the movement and identify errors. Support the Group Finance Manager in preparing commentary for inclusion in the management accounts. Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely completion.

Other reporting


Support on preparation of monthly, quarterly and half yearly group reporting submissions of the central entities, including responding to queries from EPH. Assisting with the group and statutory audit, providing supporting evidence and explanations as required. Assist with the preparation of the statutory accounts. Prepare external submissions in an accurate and timely manner, including ONS surveys and other government or regulatory reporting. Assist transactional team with invoicing queries and allocation of payments.

Forecasting / Budgeting


Support in the collation of central entities business plan costs, revenues and KPIs, and production of the budget pack with commentary. Support on budget and forecast submissions. Support the weekly and monthly cashflow forecast process of the EP UK group, helping to ensure sufficient cash reserves are available for the individual asset's needs.

Central cost management


Assist the Central Finance Business Finance in preparing cost centre actual and forecast information, which is used to manage spend across different support centre functions. Prepare and manage purchase requisitions and receipting of goods & services in SAP for the Finance cost centre. Support other functions with training and understanding of SAP data entry, and provide guidance across the business to ensure data is input correctly.
