About The Role



Job Summary:



As Group Compliance & Risk Director, you will be responsible for leading the organisation's compliance and risk management strategy. This role ensures that the company operates within company policy and the legal and regulatory frameworks, whilst identifying and mitigating risk.



This is a diverse and high-impact role. You will partner with senior leadership and stakeholders across the business to promote a culture of integrity and accountability, drive compliance understanding and engagement and design and deliver communication strategies that bring compliance principles to life in a practical and accessible way - vital to our long-term success and growth.


Key Responsibilities:



Governance & Risk management:




Design, implement, and embed a fit-for-purpose governance and control framework across multiple business units. Lead compliance and risk reviews, translating findings into practical, business-aligned improvements Own the Group's Delegation of Authority, working with all functional leads to ensure an adequate adoption; provide training where required Update and actively manage the Group's risk register and process, ensuring business units monitor and control their risks Own and manage the Group insurance strategy and relationship with broker. Define and maintain a business continuity plan

Operational compliance:


Establish and publish compliance policies & procedures to ensure that the Group complies with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements Ensure that all Group companies and sites have in place sound procedures and structures to promote and ensure probity in the conduct of business and compliance with policies. Define and implement a suitable incident reporting, investigation and timely resolution process to address alleged compliance breaches of the business code of conduct. Maintain the Group's register of Interests for key management. Identify and engage / maintain an adequate service provider to support the Group's compliance training programme for all employees; monitor timely completion of training in line with Group requirements Coordinate with external service provider to ensure an appropriate Whistleblowing process is available to all employees. Introduce a structured compliance onboarding program for all new starters to ensure early alignment with company standards and requirements. Define and implement a compliance integration plan for new acquisitions.
Working closely with the Group's Legal Director and external counsels, ensure changes to compliance laws are adequately identified and understood, and ensure they are promptly reflected in the Group's compliance policies

Compliance Communications and Engagement:




Develop and implement a comprehensive internal communications compliance and risk strategy with a unifying internal narrative that aligns communications to business strategy, reinforces our values and purpose. Deliver this strategy using all suitable internal channels in a way that reflects our internal tone of voice and visual identity. Collaborate closely with the Senior Leadership Team and key stakeholders to align compliance and risk communication priorities, ensuring consistent and effective delivery of key messages across the organisation. Bring a rigorous approach to measurement and reporting of compliance and risk communications and engagement. This includes analysis of communication performance and the regular testing and optimisation of communications. Supporting internal stakeholders to bring our compliance and risk strategy to life. This might include the planning and execution of events, the development of inclusive communication plans and crafting messages that reflect our values.

Reporting and Continuous Improvement




Analyse and report on compliance trends and outcomes of compliance checks to provide actionable insights for leadership. Develop, refine, and maintain performance indicators to ensure consistent, reliable reporting and effective trend monitoring. Publish KPIs on a quarterly basis and present to the Board as / when required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience and Skills:



Qualifications




Bachelor's degree Professional certification in quality management (desirable)

Experience & knowledge




Proven track record managing high-profile, cross-functional initiatives. Strong experience in project management and internal communications that engage diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated ownership of initiatives, with a collaborative approach to achieving organisational goals. Experience leading organisational culture transformation, particularly in values-driven or compliance-focused contexts. Skilled in designing and executing engagement strategies, including surveys, communications, and follow-up action planning. Hands-on experience implementing and embedding Governance, Risk, and Compliance frameworks.

Skills




Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration abilities. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans; delivering real change not just paper Ability to work with confidential information in a professional manner. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Organised and able to manage multiple tasks at once. Eagerness to learn about compliance, regulation, and quality monitoring.
