About the Role
We're looking for a Group Compliance Officer to lead our global Ethics and Compliance Programme, and position it for the future, ensuring that our organisation operates to the highest ethical standards across all jurisdictions.
As Group Compliance Officer, you will lead our ethical compliance risk management, with a focus on anti-bribery and corruption, fraud, tax evasion, and sanctions. You'll lead a team of subject matter experts across the UK and internationally, collaborating with senior stakeholders in Legal, Finance, HR, Internal Audit, and the Press's operating divisions to instill a culture of integrity and accountability.
Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Ethics and Compliance Programme, including global policies, frameworks, and training
  • Advise senior leadership and committees on compliance risks and reporting requirements
  • Oversee investigations into ethical compliance incidents and ensure appropriate response mechanisms
  • Implement due diligence processes for third-party relationships
  • Monitor the Programme using data analytics to gauge effectiveness and inform risk assessment
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure alignment and effective risk management
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the Oxford office.
About You
  • Extensive experience in compliance, legal, or audit roles within a complex multinational organisation
  • Professional qualification in law or accountancy/audit
  • Deep understanding of corporate compliance programmes and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong data analytics competencies and technical experience (e.g. Power BI)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to manage international teams and influence across functions
  • Willingness to travel as needed
