The Role





We are looking for a Finance Manager to join our Financial Reporting & Control team. This role forms a key part of our finance team, working to prepare, review and manage the Group's internal and external financial reporting.



Over the last 18-24 months, Policy Expert has been investing in its finance team, evolving at pace into a modern finance team to appropriately support the growth of the wider group. Policy Expert itself has recently been acquired 50% by private equity investor Cinven, alongside investment from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA). In response the Group's financial reporting and control environment needs to continue to mature to support the ambitious plans Policy Expert has. This is likely to include a GAAP conversion to IFRS this year.



You can expect lots of opportunity to contribute to the success of financial reporting and control in a team that continues to grow, evolve and drive improvement.




Key duties will include:




Support drafting and reviewing financial statements under FRS102, and advising on any changes to accounting standards as required.

Drafting of papers on key accounting matters for Audit and Reserving Committees.

Work with the Group Financial Controller on key accounting matters, with opportunity to present on these to the Chief Financial Officer and Audit Committee Chair.

Significant contribution to managing the annual and interim audit.

Develop and document accounting processes, systems and controls.

Provision of accounting and reporting support to other teams as required, including supporting with the investigation and reconciliation of accounting issues that may arise.

Working with the record to report team to support with the monthly close process for the Group's trading entities. Driving the monthly close timetable.

Oversight of group level accounting entries (such as VAT, corporation tax, investments in subsidiaries, debt and equity etc).

Review of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy of financial reporting and highlighting areas requiring further analysis. Tracking and completion of balance sheet action points.



Who are you:




Likely to be your first-move from practice from a top-4 audit firm, having worked as an audit manager or assistant manager.

Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices (FRS102), and confident with IFRS.

Audit experience resolving issues on key accounting estimates and judgements.

Experience auditing (or working in) larger organisations that are likely to have mature financial reporting and controls processes. Corporate / Group accounting knowledge or experience is essential.

A willingness to share ideas and collaborate with colleagues to make changes to systems and processes.

Qualified (or part-qualified) ACCA/ACA.

Some knowledge of taxation principles, including experience of corporation tax computations

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data.

Strong communication skills, and able to work independently, using own initiative to achieve deliverables.
