hands-on, commercially sharp Financial Controller
to oversee group financial operations, drive forecasting accuracy, and develop sophisticated Excel-based financial models that inform strategic decision-making across all companies.
This isn't a routine finance job. You'll be a key strategic partner to the Group CFO and Board, building a finance function capable of supporting rapid growth, acquisitions, and operational scalability. For the right candidate this role has a career progression path into Group Finance Director as the business scales.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
Oversee end-to-end group accounting, consolidations, and financial reporting for multiple subsidiaries.
Deliver accurate, timely management accounts and monthly board packs with commentary and KPI analysis.
Lead annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes across business units, challenging assumptions and highlighting opportunities or risks.
Build and maintain dynamic financial models (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and scenario planning) using advanced Excel techniques including lookups, pivot tables, index-match, and macros.
Provide detailed variance analysis, margin tracking, and pipeline-to-revenue forecasting.
Manage cash flow forecasting, treasury, and intercompany transactions, ensuring working capital is optimised.
Oversee preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
Commercial & Strategic Support
Support growth through financial due diligence, valuations, and post-completion integration.
Produce financial dashboards and scenario analyses to inform strategic investment and growth decisions.
Work closely with the Group CFO to refine group structure, entity performance tracking, and profit distribution.
Identify cost efficiencies, streamline reporting processes, and improve automation across systems.
Systems & Controls
Strengthen internal controls, accounting standards compliance, and reconciliation processes across entities.
Oversee VAT submissions, payroll accuracy, and compliance with HMRC and Companies House requirements.
Evaluate and improve finance systems integration (e.g., Xero, or ERP environments).
People & Collaboration
Manage and mentor the finance team including management accountants, credit control, and payroll.
Support operational teams (estate agency, legal, and financial services) with commercial insight and decision-making support.
Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement across the group.
About You
Qualifications & Experience
ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (minimum 5 years post-qualification).
Proven multi-entity group finance experience, ideally within professional services, property, or financial sectors.
Exceptional Excel skills, including ability to design and maintain complex financial models and use advanced functions (INDEX-MATCH, XLOOKUP, INDIRECT, scenario testing, pivot tables, data validation, etc.).
Strong understanding of UK accounting standards, VAT, and statutory compliance.
Experience in forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis across multiple revenue streams.
Commercially astute with a track record of turning financial data into actionable insight.
