Job Summary:
We are seeking a technically competent and controls-oriented Group Financial Controller to oversee the financial integrity and reporting of our multi-company group.
This senior role will have a strong focus on the accuracy of financial transactions together with the completeness and timeliness of balance sheet reconciliations across multiple entities. You will ensure strong internal controls support the finance team to produce accurate financial reports and statutory returns.
Key Responsibilities:
Balance Sheet Control & Reconciliations
Own the group-wide balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring all key accounts are fully reconciled and reviewed on a monthly or quarterly basis as applicable.
Identify and resolve discrepancies, aged items or historical issues across multiple entities.
Implement best practices in balance sheet management, with strong reporting, monitoring and controls in place.
Review VAT returns, PAYE & PSA submissions across multiple entities.
Group Financial Reporting
Prepare and review consolidated quarterly management accounts.
Coordinate group year-end and audit processes, including preparation of financial statements.
Liaise with auditors, tax advisors and regulatory bodies as required.
Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process in collaboration with the management accountant and operational teams.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards (UK GAAP/FRS 102).
Monitor and enforce financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
Leadership and Business Partnering
Lead and support the finance team (2 direct reports).
Collaborate with other departments to improve the overall financial narrative within the group.
Provide support to the Group Finance Director as required
Systems & Process Improvement
Champion continuous improvement in finance processes, particularly around reconciliations and ledger integrity.
Requirements:
Essential:
Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA preferred) with strong technical mindset.
Good post-qualification experience, ideally in a group financial control or reporting role. Property or real estate experience preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of balance sheet management and reconciliations, particularly in multi-entity environments.
Proven ability to improve and embed financial control processes.
Experience managing and mentoring a finance team.
