Join our Group Financial Reporting Team - Maternity Cover (Qualified Accountant, 15-18 months FTC)
Are you a qualified accountant (1-5 years post-qualified) looking to gain valuable experience in group reporting within a purpose-led organisation? We're looking for an ambitious and detail-orientated finance professional to join our Group Finance team on a fixed-term basis. This is a great opportunity to work at the heart of a successful and growing Building Society, contributing to key financial reporting and gaining exposure to both internal and external stakeholders.
Who Are We?
Not just another building society. Not just another job.
We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.
Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.
Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.
You will be joining a team of 8 within Group Finance, responsible for delivering the Group's Annual Report and Accounts and the Half Yearly Financial Statements. We work collaboratively to ensure the integrity of group financial information, with a strong focus on quality, controls, and continuous improvement. We pride ourselves on supporting each other and creating an inclusive, supportive environment where technical excellence and professional growth go hand-in-hand.
What Will You Be Doing?
You will have the opportunity to be involved in:
Leading the month-end group consolidation process, including posting consolidation adjustments, and reviewing submissions from subsidiaries.
Operating and enhancing the group consolidation controls framework and associated procedures.
Liaising with subsidiaries to support accurate reporting and provide insight into the group financial results. Partnering with internal stakeholders across the wider finance function.
Supporting the delivery of the Group's statutory reporting obligations, including external audit coordination.
Assisting in the implementation and refinement of reporting processes within Workday, our financial systems platform.
What Do We Need From You?
To be successful in this role, you will need:
A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) ideally with 1-5 years of post-qualification experience.
Strong understanding of financial reporting, ideally within a group or multi-entity environment
Experience with Workday or similar finance system is desirable.
Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams and with auditors.
A willingness to learn, contribute ideas, and take ownership of key deliverables.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your technical and professional skills in a supportive, collaborative team, while gaining valuable experience in the financial services sector.
