What you'll be doing?




Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function - Barratt Partnerships.

While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don't: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You'll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business.

Reporting to the Group Design & Technical Director, you will lead Barratt Redrow in developing and delivering consistent biodiversity related initiatives on all sites by assisting/working with the Divisions and Group Functions. Develop Group initiatives to ensure there is a process capable of capturing all relative information required for the Sustainability Report and in collaboration with Group Sustainability, deliver the Barratt Redrow Nature Strategy.

The Group Head of Biodiversity will also lead and support the collaboration with the RSPB, assisting in the delivery of the initiatives created through the partnership.



The role will identify opportunities for efficient ways of working that help to embed and deliver the BNG requirement and RSPB commitments and ensuring biodiversity delivery is a cornerstone of sustainability in construction.



The role will engage with external and internal stakeholders to promote the work undertaken at Barratt Redrow, establishing a leadership position within the sector regarding biodiversity protection and enhancement.



You will be expected to:
To ensure the company is aware and able to meet the requirements set out in legislation and planning. To work alongside the Group Design and Technical Team to drive the biodiversity ambitions within the company and ensure delivery of associated commitments at the site level. To work with all Barratt Redrow Functions to develop and implement a programme of work that implements the company ambitions. Continually assess our ecologist and landscape consultancy skills and capacity to deliver services efficiently and effectively. Develop initiatives to significantly reduce costs where these are identified as excessive or to ensure that value for money is being delivered. To assess the potential for implementing biodiversity and environmental sustainability measures across Barratt Redrow operations, with a view to understanding, prioritising and ensure overall net-positive outcomes. To support and provide BNG guidance to Barratt Redrow Divisions that in the delivery of efficient Biodiversity Gain Strategies for developments, including establishing new processes with internal and external stakeholders as necessary. To lead a better understanding of the benefits of nature led developments to Barratt Redrow Divisions and external stakeholders. Work with Group Sustainability to integrate biodiversity with other sustainability parameters including reporting (external and internal). To work with Group Sustainability to create and deliver the Barratt Redrow Nature Strategy by engaging with internal and external stakeholders. To support Divisions and Group in raising the profile externally of Barratt Redrow's leading approach to achieving development and biodiversity gains in a commercially effective manner

Other Duties:




To manage Barratt Redrow's Biodiversity Coordinator. To present reports, update progress and conduct PowerPoint presentations as necessary both internally and externally. To liaise regularly with the Barratt Redrow Divisions and the RSPB assisting with its Partnership arrangement and lead as manager of the Barratt/RSPB partnership, driving the various workstreams and having full accountability for same. Assist with Barratt Redrow Communications team to promote Biodiversity which may include media releases. To perform any necessary administration in keeping with the role and in liaison with relevant administrative staff in Barratt Developments PLC

What you'll need?




To be successful in the role, we are looking for:
A minimum BSc Hons Ecology or conservation related degree. Experience of working in the conservation and environmental sectors. Strong presentation and communication skills. Self-confident, articulate, resilient and able to thrive under pressure. An innovative thinker. A leader but with the ability to work as part of a team. Can build effective and mutually beneficial working relationships both internally and externally. Able to rapidly absorb new and complex information with ease. Is passionate about the customer and is a role model of this behaviour to others in the business. Displays energy and enthusiasm to deliver goals and achievements. Results driven and self-motivated. Fully conversant with Microsoft packages, in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint
