Job Description

Reporting to the Group MD, the Group Head of Technical will oversee and control the detailed design process across the Group for residential development projects, from planning approval through to completion. Working closely with the regional teams. The successful candidate will bring technical expertise, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to lead both internal and external teams.

Key Responsibilities



Provide technical leadership and expertise to support land development projects across the Group.
Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, technical standards, and best practices and consistency across Group.

Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to resolve technical issues and optimize project design.

Identify and engage appropriate technical consultants (e.g., architects, engineers, environmental specialists) to support land development projects.

Coordinate and manage the activities of consultants, ensuring their deliverables meet quality, budget, and timeline expectations.

Conduct regular progress meetings with consultants and regional MD's and provide guidance as needed.

Stay up to date with relevant regulations, codes, and standards related to land development.

Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Coordinate with consultants and stakeholders to address any regulatory concerns or objections.

Identify potential technical risks and challenges associated with land development projects.

Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks.

Implement measures to monitor and control risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Establish and implement quality control processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality technical outputs.

Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess compliance with technical standards and specifications.

Collaborate with internal teams and consultants to address any quality-related issues and implement corrective actions.

Collaborate with the project management team to develop and manage the technical budget for land development projects.

Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.

Optimise the allocation of resources, including personnel and equipment, to support project requirements.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including technical drawings, reports, and correspondence with one process across the Group.

Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and recommendations to stakeholders and senior management.

Ensure proper archiving and organisation of project-related documentation.

Qualifications and Experience



HNC/HND/Degree in Construction, Architectural Technology, or a related field. Experience in residential construction or development, ideally with exposure to the private housing sector. Proven track record in managing the detailed design process for residential projects, with a solid grasp of construction detailing and compliance requirements. Strong understanding of Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, and statutory planning procedures. Knowledge of AutoCAD or other CAD software is beneficial to support minor design adjustments and technical drawings, as well as familiarity with key software like Microsoft Office. Demonstrated ability to lead and drive project teams, consultants, and external parties, with a positive and proactive approach to problem-solving. Effective communication and organisational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

A full driving licence and have use of own vehicle for business travel when required.
