Group IT Director

Location: Home based with travel to sites (most sites based in the Midlands and North of the UK)

Salary: \xc2\xa385-110,000 + Bonus + car allowance + benefits

This is a new senior leadership role to support the growth of our Client\'s market leading organization, they are growing at pace both organically and through strategic acquisitions; you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, upgrading, implementation and management of the technology infrastructure, systems, security & data. The Group IT Director will lead a team of IT professionals, ensuring the smooth operation of the IT environment and the alignment of technology strategies with business objectives. Your expertise and leadership will play a critical role in shaping the technological landscape and digital transformation for future growth and success.

You will be responsible for strategically developing technical infrastructure which includes on premise and cloud-based applications and leading the technical staff. You will deliver an architecture that supports the most efficient IT environment meeting current needs while preparing for future development and growth including investment in a new organisation wide ERP system. As the have grown quickly there are plenty of legacy systems to centralise and decide on the best systems for the future This role will collaborate with leaders at all levels of the organisation and manage a team of professionals who are accountable for the delivery of information technology services.

This is about maximising technology, data and most of all people to service their customers with a high touch model built to be customer centric.

The role:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Group IT strategy aligned with the organisation\'s goals and objectives
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives across the group, leveraging emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and customer experience
  • Lead and manage a team of IT professionals, including system administrators, network engineers, developers, and support staff leveraging HR to ensure the functions design is fit or the future
  • Collaborate with executives and stakeholders to direct technology-driven business transformations. Work closely with other departments to understand their technology needs and requirements.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of IT initiatives and services. Regularly monitor and report on the performance of IT systems and projects
  • Lead. direct and supervise IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Provide regular project updates to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Manage and develop a high-performing IT team, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to drive individual and team success
  • Implement and maintain robust IT governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance, security, and data protection
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in technology, recommending innovative solutions to enhance the organization\'s IT capabilities
  • Work with external technology vendors and service providers to source, negotiate contracts, and manage relationships for IT-related products and services
  • Manage and risk-assess outsourced IT infrastructure, including that of key service providers.
  • Develop and execute IT strategies, schedules, policies and programs for the organisation\'s data processing, network communications, business operations, telecommunications, computer services and management information systems, according to established goals and objectives.
  • Create and direct strategic and tactical goals, policies and procedures for the IT department.
  • Manages day-to-day IT Operations and escalations, outage management and enterprise communication.
  • Create, review and maintain all IT Policy documentation, including and not limited to the IT Security Plan and the company disaster recovery strategy.
  • Reviews and evaluates technical Contracts, Statements of Work and Service Level Agreements for suitability to meet Clients internal technical, performance and financial needs.
  • Manages vendor relationships and addresses vendor shortcomings when they arise.
  • Oversee the development of mission-critical applications and technology to support the company\'s long-term goals and, depending on company size, provide direction and leadership to one or a number of development teams.
  • Responsible for the design, development and implementation of organisational information systems, software applications, and IT support and infrastructure systems.
  • Identify emerging information technologies to be analysed, assimilated and integrated within the organization.
  • Involved in managing change requests and circumventing project roadblocks. Uses negotiation skills to find solutions for problems that arise in the course of delivering IT solutions.
  • Personally, leads Initiatives/Programs and Projects as needed.
  • Manages technical aspects of IT projects and maintenance activities, directs day-to-day allocation of staff time according to prioritisation of tasks at hand.
  • Creates business case justification for IT solutions.
  • Compiles internal technical requirements and otherwise participates directly in the creation of Requests for Proposal for external IT vendors.
  • Manages budget and controls expenses effectively.
  • Directly responsible for the hiring and training of the IT staff.
  • Establish program to monitor/maintains application patches, updates, releases.
  • Develop and implement cyber security strategies and procedures.
  • Guide the organisation by leading the business analysis discipline for internal software development
  • Oversee availability of all core IT systems
The person:
  • Degree educated, or equivalent
  • Have substantial experience years in progressively responsible IT leadership roles
  • Strong background in developing and implementing IT strategies, driving digital transformation, and integrating business systems
  • Experience in the environmental, utilities, management consultancy services or technical services industry
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, successfully delivering IT projects within scope, time, and budget
  • Solid understanding of IT governance, compliance, security, and data protection principles
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to align IT initiatives with overall business objectives
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proactive and strategic mindset, with the ability to think critically and solve complex IT challengesKnowledge and practical experience across a formal systems development life cycle.
  • Ability to align key stakeholders toward a common goal and drive results and facilitate change. Experience in deployment, integration, and on-going management of Applications.
  • Experience negotiating with vendors; ability to manage external relationships with contracting firms and application developers.
  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems
