Role Overview
A key leadership role in a dynamic, multi-site organisation, this position involves managing IT services across head office, retail branches in the UK and Ireland, a hospitality resort, and additional group projects. You will lead the service desk team, provide hands-on support, ensure system security, and deliver high-quality IT services across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Manage IT services across all group companies
Administer IT infrastructure - server/network configuration, security, connectivity, backups
Oversee critical business systems (EPOS, CRM, etc.)
Lead IT Services team for deployment/support of PCs, laptops, printers, mobile devices
Efficiently manage the IT service desk to ensure SLA compliance
Provide 2nd/3rd line technical and project support
Maintain network and data security with appropriate controls
Implement patching and update procedures
Develop IT policies, procedures, and documentation
Conduct system audits and health checks
Report to senior management on IT system status
Lead IT projects - system upgrades, migrations, outages
Manage contracts and IT suppliers, including negotiations and budgeting
Guide and develop IT team, fostering upskilling opportunities
Be available out-of-hours for IT emergencies and during peak periods
Essential Criteria
Degree (or equivalent) in Information Systems or Technology
Minimum 5 years commercial IT experience, with 2+ years in management
Strong understanding of IT hardware/software and retail technologies (e.g., EPOS, Ecommerce, SAGE, CCTV, Audio)
Proficient in Office 365 administration (user and admin setup)
Networking knowledge (DNS, routing, VPN)
Experience managing 1st/2nd line IT support and distributed infrastructures
Skilled in Microsoft Windows OS, Server 2008-2019, Active Directory, Microsoft 365/Azure, SQL
Experience with telephony (IP/cloud) and mobile systems
Knowledge of data backup systems
Strong planning, organisation, and time management
Budgeting and contract management experience
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement
Hands-on approach: capable of physical setup, wiring, cabling etc.
Problem-solving mindset with customer-focused service delivery
Flexible, self-driven, and approachable team leader
Full, clean driving licence and own vehicle
Right to work in the UK
Desirable Criteria
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services
Familiarity with FortiGate firewalls and Ubiquiti networks
Knowledge of storage solutions (SAN, NAS, Cloud)
Experience with Dell Servers, Hyper-V, MDM, ERP/Retail systems
