Group Leader - Reagent & Calibrator Dispensing
Due to continued growth, QuidelOrtho are actively looking to recruit a Group Leader for our Reagent & Calibrator Dispensing area, this role reports into the Value Stream Manager. This role works on a day basis, Monday to Friday.
About QuidelOrtho, Pencoed:
QuidelOrtho has been manufacturing products in South Wales for over 40 years. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, based in Pencoed, employs over 500 people who are involved in the manufacture and supply of clinical laboratory and immunohematology products to a global customer base.
Our Pencoed team manufacture a large menu of immunoassay products encompassing a range of disease categories.
We are proud to be a global hub for critical manufacturing lines, and we have recently expanded our capabilities with three new state-of-the-art manufacturing lines to produce a comprehensive suite of immunohematology products for blood typing and crossmatching of blood donor units. On site we have a range of functions operating globally & locally. All our employees are working towards one common goal, to help save and improve lives through diagnostics.
Your new role:
As a Group Leader, you will be responsible for organising and leading a shift responsible for the production and testing of semi-finished products to meet business output needs within a high-volume area of our facility. You will be responsible for leading the manufacturing process and the key performance indicators for the team, whilst acting as the focal point for communication with other areas of the business.
What you'll be doing:
Prioritise and schedule work to meet business needs.
Deploy resource appropriately and escalate concerns.
Run daily departmental meetings, presenting metrics and highlighting issues to support functions.
Able to monitor and analyse production data (e.g. OEE, MUV & FPA) to determine efficiency and effectiveness of groups output.
Attends cross-functional production meetings (e.g. OTIF communicating current status).
Provide the leadership and training required to enable empowered and motivated individuals with effective communication within and between teams through mentoring and coaching as appropriate.
Actively manage attendance and performance of direct reports.
Keep accurate records and measures of production methods, test results and performance indices.
SME lead for area audits.
Ensure team members operate in line with standards.
Acts as focal communication point with other work areas.
Lead decision maker within the area, escalating as appropriate.
Carry out employee appraisals to agreed timetable and assist in the provision of development plans, selection, and recruitment of employees.
Support new production introduction and ensure effective implementation of any new processes as part of key site projects/initiatives.
Assist in review of spend against agreed AOP budget.
What you'll need to succeed:
Degree qualified within a Scientific, Engineering or Manufacturing related field. Or possessing a relevant operational experience, leading production teams within a manufacturing environment.
Experience of working within a highly regulated environment is desirable.
Experience within a leadership capacity.
Demonstrable experience of high-volume flow production environments.
Fluent in the use of MS Office.
Knowledge of safe systems of work
Demonstrable effective communication skills
Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks
Experience of managing and developing others.
