Role

Overview

The Group Operational Lead Accountant will oversee the delivery of Group operations, ensuring financial outputs are accurate, consistent, and reliable. This role will collaborate closely with senior finance and actuarial stakeholders to ensure robust reporting processes and controls.

& Controls



Oversee production accounting assumptions, ensuring alignment with IFRS requirements and technical guidance. Maintain and enhance the IFRS 17 expense model including reconciliations and production of expense data. Oversee actuals, budgeting, and forecasting processes, with robust controls embedded throughout.

Data Reconciliation & Integrity



Review data reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy. Reconcile outputs and IFRS 17 calculation engine data transformations to ensure internal consistency and traceability.

Finance

Operations & Ledger Posting



Oversee IFRS 17 model runs and ensure accurate journal posting to the ledger. Maintain oversight of soft close processes to ensure assumption data completeness ahead of quarter close. Review manual adjustments required as part of the group close process Oversee the Group FX Revaluations process across all platforms, ensuring consistency and accuracy. Oversee ledger rollover transactions, ensuring appropriate accounting and documentation.

Governance & Reporting



Manage ledger control, including the opening and closing of accounting periods. Review Group consolidations for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards Own the IFRS 17 to GAAP reconciliation process for the IFRS 17 Governance Forum. Collaborate with the Group Reporting Lead to support the successful delivery of Beazley plc's Annual and Interim Reports, IMS & IFRS 17 Governance Packs.

Technical Compliance & Oversight



Work closely with the Technical Accounting team to ensure continued compliance with IFRS accounting assumptions. Maintain and update technical oversight papers in response to evolving guidance and business changes.

Personal Specification:

Education and Qualifications

University degree in any discipline Professional accountancy qualification, preference for ACA/ACCA, or qualified by experience

Skills and Abilities



Highly technical in accountancy skills, especially UK GAAP and IFRS General commercial and financial knowledge Insurance and Lloyd's specific knowledge Strong analytical skills with attention to detail Advanced excel skills, including PowerQuery/PowerPivot Able to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing Able to work on own initiative Strong team working skills The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise

Knowledge and Experience

Proven post qualification experience, gained within regulatory reporting in the Insurance sector Experience of designing processes and managing controls
