About The Role

The purpose of this role is to deliver high-quality data solutions as part of product and project engineering at Retail Insight. Data engineering at Retail Insight includes creating and maintaining data pipelines, orchestration, data wrangling, and SQL to support existing and new client deliveries, and a growing focus on product engineering.

Working alongside other engineers in a cross-functional squad, you'll contribute to design, architecture and implementation.



Main responsibilities:

You will work closely with our sales and delivery team to provide technical expertise on client engagements. You will be a technical lead working closely with our clients to implement and support our AvailablityInisght and WasteInsight products. You have the skills to design and implement the architecture on your own, but choose to influence your fellow engineers by proposing software designs, providing feedback on solution designs and/or implementation. You have the experience to architect generalised solutions for the client and contribute to upstream code, and be able to balance client timelines with engineering objectives. You will take ownership of issues and see them to their resolution. Have good problem solving skills and can help the team in triaging operational issues. You're an expert in programming and apply your skills in developing the product. You will mentor and support more junior team members.
Key relationships and stakeholders:
You will be a technical lead working closely with our clients to implement and support retail insight products. Can work with external stakeholders to translate business / customer requirements into technical requirements for our solution. Communicates the impact of change on other stakeholders (i.e. other teams). Collaborate with stakeholders to agree deliverables and deadlines. Liaising with team members, management, departments, and clients and to ensure projects are completed to both engineering standards and client satisfaction.
Experience and qualifications:
Hands-on experience of working with large MSSQL databases, TBs in size Excellent knowledge of T-SQL Hands-on experience of monitoring, performance tuning and administrating MSSQL database Experience in assisting with the design, implementation, and on-going support of MSSQL environments Azure SQL & Azure cloud environment experience Excellent experience with SQL Server Integration Services both project and package deployment models Experience with PowerShell Python experience is advantageous Experience working to CI/CD principals Strong experience of working in an agile environment
