As a Gym Instructor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the University gym facilities, ensuring a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for all users. You will deliver high-quality fitness inductions, programme design, and ongoing gym support, helping members achieve their personal fitness goals. A strong customer-focused approach is essential, as you will be one of the first points of contact within the facility.



Key responsibilities include supervising gym sessions, maintaining equipment to a high standard, delivering basic fitness advice, and ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed. You will also support the promotion of physical activity initiatives, contribute to member engagement activities, and assist with events and programmes that enhance participation in sport and exercise across the University.



The successful candidate will hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification (or equivalent), with Level 3 Personal Training being desirable. You will have experience working in a gym or fitness environment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate individuals with varying levels of confidence and ability. A proactive, professional and flexible attitude is essential, including availability to work evenings and weekends on a rota basis.
