Job Description

We are seeking an experienced gym manager for our fitness centre in Worthing. This is a challenging but rewarding role. you will be expected to manage a small team of Personal Trainers and class instructors whilst maintaining exceptional standards and customer service.You must have:

• Prior management experience
• Level 3 personal training certification
• Class instruction certification
• Good knowledge of the fitness industry

Main Purpose of Job;Responsible for ensuring that all staff give professional assistance to Members, Prospective members and Guests who wish to use the club facilities.To ensure that members continue to enjoy using the facilities and minimise membership cancellations.Team Management

• To format staff rotas ensuring the gym and reception areas are covered by correctly trained and qualified staff at all Manned times, and that the number of staff on shift correctly reflects the clubs busy periods.
• To motivate staff and set incentives when applicable
• Manage staff requests for holidays and time off for sickness. Ensure the appropriate staff cover is obtained to cover staff holidays and sickness.
• To play an active role in staff training, initial and on going
• Ensure that each member of the team has a review every 3 months and that all views are discussed and documented and any training issues are identified and addressed.
• To ensure that all instructors produce goal-orientated exercise programmes and members achieve maximum benefit from their use of the facilities.
• To ensure that all instructors obtain and maintain correct up-to-date information on all members assigned to them - Medical declarations, Induction records, Training advice, Fitness Assessment results etc.
• To ensure all instructors track usage habits of members assigned to them and take ownership for their continued use of the club.
• To Ensure all instructors and producing relevant and up to date content for social media

Member Management & Motivation

• To ensure that all new members are given an induction and are using the gym equipment safely and correctly.
• To deal with members?EUR(TM) queries, gym and non-gym related in a professional and efficient manner
• To ensure that retention measures are taken on a monthly basis and that the ideas are innovative, original and have the highest levels of success
• To ensure the membership base has grown month on month
• To ensure that competitions are held on a regular basis within the gym area to keep members interested and having fun.

Sales ManagementEnsure that: -

• An enquiry form is filled out correctly for all membership enquires.
• All enquiry forms are followed up using the correct sales procedures
• All emails for membership enquiries and tours are dealt with in a timely manner
• All staff adhere to the correct completion of membership sales forms and are fully up-to-date with any current membership offers.
• All staff conduct tours to the appropriate standard and explain membership terms and conditions correctly.

• Be responsible for the promotion of additional services to members and where appropriate non-members to increase secondary spend.
• Set and monitor sales targets for staff where appropriate for membership sales and secondary spend.
• Provide input and ideas for marketing the club to increase sales and public awareness of the services provided by the club.
• Provide ideas for increasing revenue from alternative uses of underutilised areas of the club to maximise profit.

Environment Management

• Ensure opening/closing check lists are adhered to
• Oversee all notice boards/poster boards in the gym and studio. Ensure information is relevant, interesting and up-to-date
• Ensure that a Daily cleaning/task list is completed and that every item is covered to the required standard. Ensure any area requiring additional cleaning or maintenance is completed as soon as possible.
• Hold meetings with the team on a monthly basis. Ensure each meeting is documented with action points completed by the agreed target date.
• Oversee the aerobic timetable, ensuring that the relevant cover is found and attendance of classes is monitored closely.
• Ensure each class instructor has the relevant insurance certificates, PPL licences, self-employment details and that their standard of teaching and professionalism meets the high standards required by On1Fitness.
• Ensure all aerobic studio equipment is maintained and cleaned to the correct standard and the studio itself is kept clean and Air conditioning units functioning correctly.
• Ensure that all Health and Safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
• To be fully conversant with the emergency procedures for Fire and Accident and ensure all staff are trained in how to deal with any such emergencies.
• Maintain a cleaning log procedure for all equipment in the gym area and changing facility?EUR(TM)s, ensure that the team adheres to the procedure.
• Maintain a regular maintenance log for all gym equipment and ensure all staff are trained on maintenance checks and adhere to the procedures.
• Ensure any faults on equipment that cannot be fixed by staff are reported to the General Manager as soon as possible and that the equipment is taken out of service where necessary to ensure the safety of the members.
• Ensure stock levels for cleaning stock, Fitness test requirements, incentive gifts and retail sales stock are checked regularly and liaise with the General Manager to replenish stocks when required.
