Job Description

Role Purpose

To deliver high-quality, engaging coaching sessions across cheerleading, dance, circus arts and gymnastics tumbling. Coaches will support participants of all ages and abilities, promote safe practice, nurture confidence and skill progression, and contribute to the growth and development of the programme.

Key Responsibilities Coaching & Session Delivery

Plan and deliver fun, progressive sessions in one or more of the following disciplines: Provide clear demonstrations, technical guidance and positive reinforcement. Adapt coaching methods to suit individual needs, ages and learning styles. Incorporate stretching, strength and conditioning appropriate to each discipline. Prepare participants for showcases, exams, assessments or competitions where applicable.

Safety & Welfare

Maintain a safe training environment through correct spotting, equipment checks and risk assessments. Uphold safeguarding and child protection standards at all times. Respond to incidents, injuries or concerns appropriately and follow reporting procedures.

Communication & Teamwork

Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth class transitions and consistent coaching standards. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about progress, expectations and behaviour. Attend team meetings, coach training and CPD sessions as required.

Programme & Club Support

Contribute to events such as performances, camps, holiday workshops and competitions. Support the development of curriculum planning, skill pathways and new programme ideas.

Qualifications & RequirementsEssential

Experience coaching or performing in at least one of the following areas: cheerleading, dance, circus arts or gymnastics tumbling. Understanding of safe progressions, spotting techniques and injury prevention. Experience working with children or young people. Positive, enthusiastic and professional coaching style. Willingness to undertake safeguarding, first aid and required training. Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable

Qualifications such as: Level 1-2-3Cheerleading coaching certificates (e.g., ICU/USASF or UK equivalents) Dance teaching qualifications (IDTA, ISTD, or equivalent experience) Circus coaching training or aerial/acro foundations BG/IGA qualifications for tumbling or general gymnastics Experience preparing athletes for competitions or performances. Multi-discipline coaching experience. Strong background in choreography, routine development or performance skills.
