The Renal Unit is a diverse department, caring for patients with Renal Failure from the pre-dialysis, to maintenance dialysis, conservative management, end of life care and supporting patients through transplantation.The department also provides support to patients whom develop acute renal failure. The role of the staff nurse within the department is diverse and you will be afforded the opportunity to care for patients undergoing dialysis, on the dialysis unit, on our renal ward and within the critical care setting. The approach for caring for patients undergoing dialysis is truly multidisciplinary, you will be working closely with doctors, specialist nurses, dieticians, social worker, psychologist and the pharmacy department to deliver a high quality continuous care to the patients within the department.

The post holder is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based nursing care, working collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of haemodialysis patients and their families.
The post holder will assist in the management and organisation of their clinical area and participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.
The post holder will be expected to develop their knowledge and skills in renal nursing by working with the various renal specialist nurses and the other renal ward nurses.
