Brief Description

To provide possession protection and support as directed by the possession management staff within the area, for given weeks of any programme year, under the jurisdiction of the senior PICOP/PICOP.

About the role (External)

Key Accountabilities

\xc2\xb7 Undertake Possession Support activities as directed.

\xc2\xb7 Undertake Hand Signalman activities as directed.

\xc2\xb7 Operate Level Crossing Barriers as directed.

\xc2\xb7 Able to drive road vehicles with full, clean license preferred.

\xc2\xb7 Check certificates in date for validation and report same expiry date to line management.

Qualifications and Training

Previous rail maintenance experience is advantageous as are the following competencies: PTS, COSS/IWA, Hand Signalman and PS

Full training in all aspects of the job including extensive safety training will be provided but you will need to be a quick learner, who can follow instructions.

Safety Responsibilities

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that you and your staff and sub-contractors under your management or control work safely and comply with all current and relevant health, safety and environmental legislation including Railway Group and Line Standards.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that you and your staff and sub-contractors under your management or control assess and control risks and plan and implement safe methods of working and are competent to carry out the task.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure the safety of passengers, the general public and the environment is not affected by the activities of you, your staff and contractors under your control.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure that accidents, incidents or near misses to you or staff under your control are reported to Infrastructure Control, the Regional Safety Section and to your Supervisor/Manager, and that the Accident Book is filled in promptly.

\xc2\xb7 Ensure you and your staff participates in the Company cascade safety briefings.

\xc2\xb7 Be aware of the relevance and importance of activities which you, or those working under your direction are required to undertake and how these contribute to achievement of quality policy and business objectives
