Dorset County Hospital Hand Therapy Service wish to offer the right person an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic hand therapy team as a part-time hand therapy technician. As a successful NHS in-house service, we provide high quality services in West Dorset.The post advertised will be based at Dorset County Hospital, with a focus on covering adult and paediatric orthopaedic elective and trauma clinics, as well as rheumatology patients. Our dedicated MDT means we work closely with orthopaedic consultants in hand surgery, nursing staff, plaster technicians and orthotists.We need a keen and enthusiastic person to support our team, so would be keen to support you with some flexibility on working hours to ensure a good work/life balance. We are currently looking at 22.5 hours per week with short term additional hours considered to cover current risk in department.Main duties of the jobTo carry out administrative and clinical duties for the hand therapy/ Orthotic team to facilitate the smooth running of the Outpatient Therapy Service.To assist the therapists in certain delegated clinical therapy duties and in the delivery of the (remove) classes.To ensure that clinical areas are maintained in a clean and tidy conditionTo be responsible for ordering stock and non-stock supplies for the departmentTo Support specific identified interventions for patients as competencies allows as allocated and supervised by the relevant hand therapistAssist clinicians with patient care which could include activities such as: Exercise therapy, scar management, group exercise classes, measuring and fitting off-the-shelf splintsTo fully participate in whatever pattern of working is required by the service in the future.To assist the therapists in certain delegated clinical therapy duties and in the delivery of classes.About usAt DCHFT, we pride ourselves on the care we provide for our patients, and on the culture, we are creating for our staff.   • 4x GCSE Level C or equivalent including English and Maths.
Desirable
  • Willing to work towards BTEC/HND/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in relevant subject
  • BTEC or HND or NVQ level 2 or equivalent experience in relevant subject.
Knowledge and experienceEssential
  • Previous experience of working in administrative post
Desirable
  • Experience in person facing role.
  • Experience of using own initiative.
  • IT skills - ability to create and/or format data and/or spreadsheets using computerised system
  • Awareness and understanding of NHS structure
