We are seeking a Handy Person to join Stirling Hotel Services Ltd, providing support within the accommodation footprint of the University of Stirling. Based on our beautiful campus in Stirling, this role is vital in maintaining the quality and safety of our residences, ensuring an exceptional experience for students, staff, and visitors alike.
We are looking for a skilled and reliable handy person to help maintain our University accommodation. This is a full-time position, 36 hours per week, 5 days over 7. Part-time job sharing will also be considered.
Responsibilities
Perform general maintenance and repairs across various accommodation buildings.
Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs.
Ensure all equipment and fixtures are functioning properly.
Collaborate with the facilities and operations team to address urgent repairs.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Support the team in delivering high standards of service.
Follow health and safety regulations at all times.
Supporting with space preparation within accommodation
Example of duties:
Minor repairs to walls, floors, doors and furniture
Painting and decorating for example filling holes, painting
Taking immediate steps to mitigate further issues, such as treating mould
Changing bulbs, including high level bulbs requiring use of a ladder
Moving and installing white goods, beds, mattresses and other items to rooms (please note a majority of buildings do not have lifts and therefore many tasks involve manual handling).* Replacing toilet seats, minor plumbing, replacing bath or shower sealant
Supporting with compliance - for example water flushing, fire alarm testing, plant room inspections
Any other duties commensurate to the role
Essential Criteria
Proven experience in general maintenance or maintenance person roles.
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Flexibility to handle varied tasks.
Able to carry out physical tasks appropriate to the role including manual handling, using ladders and climbing stairs
