Handyman Required - Category C Prison (Shadowing Trade Teams)

We are currently seeking a

Handyman

to join a facilities team operating within a

Category C prison

, supporting and shadowing on-site trade professionals. This is a fantastic opportunity for a practical and proactive individual to contribute in a secure and structured environment.

Role Overview:

You'll work alongside electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and other skilled tradespeople, assisting with general maintenance tasks and ensuring smooth, safe site operations. All duties must be carried out in strict accordance with prison safety and security protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist trades in general maintenance, repairs, and installations Carry out basic handyman tasks (e.g. painting, minor repairs, general upkeep) Handle materials and tools, ensuring tidiness and efficiency Adhere to all health & safety procedures on-site Follow prison procedures and maintain a professional manner within the secure environment

Requirements:

Previous experience in a handyman, maintenance, or facilities support role CSCS card is needed Strong general repair and DIY skills

EL1 Prison Clearance

- ideal but

not essential

If not already held,

we can support you through the clearance process

(please note this may take some time) Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one) Reliable, punctual, and adaptable Comfortable working in a prison environment

Contract Details:

Initial 1-month placement

Rolling monthly renewal

subject to performance and site needs Monday to Friday working hours (within prison operating hours) Full induction and PPE provided
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 1 month

Pay: 14.00-15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 per week
