At Anchor, we believe the environment people live in plays a vital role in their wellbeing. We're looking for a practical, reliable Handyperson to join our team at Thomas Henshaw Court, Southport, helping to keep the home safe, comfortable and welcoming for everyone who lives and works there.
Working closely with the Home Manager and wider team, you'll play an important part in maintaining the day-to-day upkeep of the building and grounds. Your work will directly support residents' quality of life and help create a place they are proud to call home.
The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You'll use your practical skills to keep the home running smoothly and respond promptly to maintenance needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out day-to-day minor maintenance and repairs to a high standard
Helping maintain a safe, comfortable and pleasant environment for residents
Identifying when issues can be resolved in-house and when specialist contractors are required
Completing basic gardening and external upkeep where required
Using tools and equipment safely, following all health & safety guidance and procedures
Reporting hazards or concerns promptly to support a safe living environment
About You
You'll take pride in your work and understand how good maintenance supports great care. Ideally, you will bring:
Previous experience in maintenance, gardening, building or a similar practical role
A broad range of practical skills, including general repairs and basic gardening
An understanding of data protection, confidentiality and safeguarding of vulnerable adults
Awareness of health & safety in the workplace
A proactive and solution-focused approach to your work

Friendly, approachable and respectful, with strong interpersonal skills
Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team
Flexible and willing to undertake a wide range of tasks
