HEALTH CARE ASSISTANTS (HCAs) IN GENERAL PRACTICE DO A VERY DIFFERENT ROLE TO HCAs IN HOSPITALS OR CARE HOMES.

We are looking for a GP experienced HCA, to join our hard working and very friendly team, between 3 and 5 days per week.

We provide GMS services to a mixed practice population of around 6,700 patients in North Walsham and the villages in the surrounding area. We are part of North Norfolk NN2 PCN.

We require someone who is a team player, professional, courteous and efficient. Excellent people handling skills, enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure are all essential.

Pay will be negotiable and dependent on experience. In addition, you will join the excellent NHS pension scheme. Annual leave (pro rata) is 4 weeks, plus Bank Holidays per annum.

Responsibilities

There may occasions when there are requirement to carry out other tasks than those shown

a. Undertake new patient health checks

b. Undertake NHS Health Checks (40 to 74 years) and Long Term Condition/Annual Health checks

c. Support the practice with health promotion programmes

d. Carry out baseline observations such as urine analysis, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, height and weight, recording findings accurately

e. Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

f. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required

g. Support the practice team with the management of chronic disease clinics and initial checks

h. Carry out BMI checks as directed

i. Act as a chaperone as required

j. Undertake venepuncture

k. Administer vaccinations

l. Assess hearing difficulties and referring on when relevant

m. Carry out ECGs as requested

n. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation

o. Provide support during minor operations as required

p. Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session

q. Ensure fridges are clean and temperatures recorded in accordance with guidance

r. Assist in ensuring stocks of medical supplies and vaccines in all clinical areas

s. Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice policy

t. Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

u. To undertake all training required by the Practice and maintain a personal development plan

v. Attend all meetings required and participate in shared learning within the practice

w. Take part in periodic appraisals required by the Practice

x. Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead

y. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

z. Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the rota

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.21-12.85 per hour

Expected hours: 22.5 - 37.5 per week
