The Lead Healthcare Assistant plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care within the clinical team. This role involves leading by example, providing day-to-day supervision and guidance to Healthcare Assistants, and ensuring that clinical and administrative duties are carried out effectively and efficiently. The Lead HCA will work closely with nursing, medical, and administrative teams to support the smooth running of patient services, while also contributing to training, service improvement, and maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.

Purpose of the Job
The main purpose of the job is to provide high quality healthcare to meet the needs our patients. This post will be based in clinics in the area(s) of South East London.
Provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients in line with clinical protocols and organisational standards.
Support clinical staff in the delivery of patient care.
Act as the first point of contact and role model for the HCA team, offering day-to-day guidance, support, and supervision.
Assist with coordinating the HCA rota to ensure adequate cover and continuity of care.
Monitor and maintain clinical equipment, supplies, and stock levels, ensuring all are kept in line with infection control and safety standards.
Support the induction, training, and ongoing development of new and existing HCAs, including identifying training needs and mentoring where appropriate.
Work closely with nurses, GPs, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth communication and continuity of care.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities in accordance with record-keeping standards.
Promote and uphold infection prevention and control procedures in all areas of practice.
Participate in audits, quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to service development as required.
Escalate any concerns regarding patient care, staff performance, or service delivery to the HCA Manager.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to data protection guidelines at all times
The Health Care Assistant will work under the direction and guidance of the registered Clinician but is expected to work independently in preparing and concluding clinics. However, this is guided by standard operating procedures and requires the individual to use a degree of initiative, and to work to agreed practice standards and protocols.
The hours of work will be agreed by rota approximately 4 weeks in advance. These will vary from week to week dependent upon clinic schedules. Clinic hours will usually be between the hours of 8.00-18.00 Monday - Saturday. The Health Care Assistant should arrive no less than 30 minutes prior to the start of the clinic to ensure that the room and equipment are ready for use.
