Do you believe in the power of imaginative teaching, student-centred learning, and real-world design practice to transform a learner's future?


We're searching for a passionate, skilled, and forward-thinking HE Sessional Lecturer to teach on our BA Design degree, delivering high-quality learning experiences that meet College and validating University standards and help our students grow as confident, industry-ready creatives.


This exciting role will include:




Teaching and, where relevant, assessing flexibly across agreed sessional hours on the BA Design programme, ensuring a high-quality learning experience that supports strong retention and achievement.

Planning and delivering student-centred, active learning sessions, providing appropriate pastoral care, guidance, action planning, and close liaison with the Curriculum Leader and Deputy Head of Curriculum Preparing course schemes, teaching materials, ILT-enhanced resources, audio-visual aids, learning packages, and maintaining accurate academic records.


Working collaboratively with colleagues to develop both existing and new HE programmes within the Design and Creative Industries area.

You may be an experienced lecturer, an industry practitioner, or a creative professional with strong design expertise. What matters most is your commitment to high-quality HE teaching and your ability to engage and challenge emerging designers.


We're looking for someone who:




Holds a degree (L6 or above) in a relevant area such as Design, Visual Communication, Creative Media, or a related subject.

Has comprehensive skills, experience, and up-to-date practice within the design sector.

Understands the knowledge, skills and behaviours BA graduates need to progress successfully into industry or further study.

Has successful experience teaching and assessing on relevant creative or HE programmes.

Brings a flexible, imaginative and responsive approach to teaching and assessment.

Works effectively as part of a team and communicates with sensitivity and professionalism.

Has the energy and enthusiasm to thrive in a rapidly evolving HE environment.

Desirable:




Relevant occupational/professional qualifications; CertEd or willingness to work toward one; confidence using subject-relevant IT and digital tools.


College location: East Sussex College Newhaven Marine Workshop




Salary: 29-45 per hour (subject to qualifications, skills and experience)




Hours: Sessional (variable).
