The Opportunity
You'll be at the heart of delivering engaging, forward-thinking teaching across both traditional sport and the fast-growing world of esports. Working closely with our Course and Pathway Leaders, you'll plan, prepare, and deliver learning experiences that not only stretch and challenge our students but also inspire them to achieve their goals and take confident steps towards their future careers.
You'll create dynamic lessons that bring together theory and practical application, ensuring our students gain a well-rounded understanding of the subject. From coaching principles to esports strategy and digital platforms, you'll deliver content that's current, relevant, and geared towards real-world success. You'll also provide thoughtful feedback, guide students on career options, and help them build the skills they'll need to succeed in a competitive and evolving sector.
Your role will see you working with a range of colleagues and industry partners to offer enriching opportunities such as workshops, guest speakers, competitions, and placements. These experiences help bring learning to life and give our students a valuable edge in their development. You'll also play an active part in reviewing and improving the curriculum, contributing to the department's high standards and continued success.
This is a role where you'll make a real difference - not just in the classroom, but in shaping the future of sport and esports education. With your passion for the subject and your commitment to delivering high-quality learning, you'll help create a supportive, professional environment where our students are encouraged to aim high and develop the confidence to progress.
About You
Ideally, you will have at least two years of relevant teaching and/or industry experience within the Sport, Health, or Esports sectors. You'll bring solid subject knowledge alongside a genuine passion for helping students progress in their academic and professional journeys. Experience of teaching Higher Education students is essential, and you'll have the ability to deliver a range of modules confidently across Sport, Health, and/or Esport.
You'll be skilled at designing and delivering engaging, inclusive sessions that combine theoretical understanding with real-world application. Your approach to teaching will be flexible and learner-focused, ensuring you can adapt to different needs and create a positive, professional environment where all students feel motivated and supported.
You'll also be up to date with current trends in the industry, whether that's in sports science, coaching, health and wellbeing, esports strategy, or digital platforms used in competitive gaming. Your ability to use this knowledge to inform and enrich your teaching will play a key part in keeping the curriculum relevant and impactful.
Collaboration is a key part of the role. You'll have experience working with stakeholders and organisations to create valuable learning opportunities for our students - from placements and workshops to guest speakers and employer-led projects. You'll also contribute to curriculum development, quality processes, and course reviews, helping to maintain high standards across the department.
