We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef to lead our country pub. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food preparation, ensuring high standards of quality home cooked food, safety, and presentation. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to showcase leadership skills within a vibrant hospitality environment. The Head Chef will play a pivotal role in maintaining the pubs reputation for excellence and innovation. we are looking for quality home cooked food for our locals & holiday makers. We are a busy country pub with the most amazing views & walks on hand. Accommodation is available in Alwinton due to the owner having a 2 bedroom cottage available which can be negotiated within wages if required.
Duties
Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the kitchen team, including chefs, sous-chefs, and kitchen assistants
Oversee food production, ensuring dishes meet quality standards and are prepared efficiently
Manage food safety protocols and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations
Develop menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends
Lead food preparation and cooking activities, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock rotation to minimise waste
Train and mentor kitchen staff to enhance skills and promote a positive working environment
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in accordance with hygiene standards
Serve as a role model for professionalism, teamwork, and dedication within the hospitality setting
Qualifications
Proven experience within a busy restaurant or hospitality environment
Demonstrated leadership abilities with effective team management skills
Knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
Experience in menu development and food production management
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure during peak hours
Strong understanding of hospitality operations including serving procedures
Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable
A passion for innovative cuisine and delivering exceptional guest experiences
