Job Description
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen, developing and delivering a menu that celebrates hearty, traditional pub classics while introducing your own creative flair. You'll ensure consistently high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene, while leading and inspiring your small kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deliver a seasonal menu of traditional pub dishes with a focus on local produce and quality ingredients Oversee all kitchen operations, including preparation, cooking, plating, and service Manage kitchen staff, fostering a positive, motivated, and professional team environment Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health regulations Maintain stock control, ordering, and cost management to achieve budget targets Work closely with management to create weekly specials and seasonal events Uphold consistency and excellence in every dish served Support and develop junior team members through training and mentorship
Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a similar environment (pub, restaurant, or hotel) Strong understanding of traditional British pub food and comfort classics A passion for fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills Ability to work calmly under pressure and maintain high standards at all times Good financial awareness and experience managing food margins and stock Food hygiene and safety certifications required
