At The Welsh House by Wynne, we're committed to showcasing the rich heritage of Welsh cuisine while infusing it with modern flair. As part of a well-established Welsh Independent Group with sites across Wales, we're looking for a talented Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and uphold our tradition of excellence.

The Role:

As our Head Chef, you'll be at the helm of our kitchen, orchestrating the creation of dishes that exemplify Welsh culinary heritage with a modern twist. Reporting to the General Manager, you'll lead a team of talented chefs to deliver exceptional dining experiences. Your responsibilities will include:

Creating and executing specials for the specials board and following specs that celebrate Welsh cuisine, always using locally sourced ingredients to deliver dishes of the highest quality. Leading and inspiring a team of chefs, fostering a culture of creativity, excellence, and collaboration. Overseeing kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, to ensure consistency and adherence to quality standards. Managing inventory and food costing to optimise profitability while minimising waste. Training and developing kitchen staff, nurturing their skills and talents to achieve their full potential. Maintaining kitchen hygiene and safety standards in compliance with regulations. Collaborating with suppliers to source the best quality ingredients and negotiate favourable terms. Working closely with Wynne Evans and other stakeholders to develop seasonal menus and special event offerings. Monitoring and controlling kitchen budgets and expenses to meet financial targets. Ensuring smooth communication and coordination between kitchen and front-of-house staff to deliver seamless service. Upholding the reputation of our establishment by consistently delivering exceptional food and service. Contributing to the development of our culinary identity and staying abreast of industry trends.
Preferred Qualifications:

While not mandatory, the following would be advantageous:

Proficiency in Welsh cuisine Previous experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef in a high-volume restaurant environment. Culinary qualifications or equivalent experience in a professional kitchen. Creative flair and a passion for experimenting with ingredients and flavours. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
